M1 Macbook Pro Slow Spaces Transition Animation

I recently got a M1 Macbook Pro and instantly became annoyed at the slow transition between spaces. It seemed significantly slower than my Intel Mac. This was leading to keyboard input being executed on the previous space instead of the intended one. After some searching I found this solution on SuperUser

Change Refresh Rate from ProMotion

Display ProMotion

to 60Hz
